GamesQuest Top 10 Games and Game of the Year 2014

We Can Not Look to the Future… Without First Looking to the Past!!!

GamesQuest Top 10 Games of 2014To kick off 2015, we thought we’d put our heads together and say farewell to 2014 by creating a list of our top 10 games of 2014 and announcing our Game of the Year 2014 winner!

Each of the blogging team were given Christmas and New Year to catch up on any games they wanted to have played before compiling the list.

Each blogger was asked to put together an individual list of games that they felt deserved a place on the main GamesQuest list. We then allocated a score to each game based on the position of the game in each bloggers list and the number of nominations it received across all lists. Finally, any ties were broken by Mr GamesQuest himself, Nigel!

Three very simple rules were enforced during the selection process:

  1. We were allowed to choose expansions for the list if we wanted.
  2. The publication date of the game, or expansion, had to be 2014 on BoardGameGeek. If we thought the publication date was 2014 but BGG had it as 2013 then it wasn’t eligible.
  3. The games or expansions do not have to be stocked by GamesQuest. If they are not available on the site they are still eligible!

So, without further ado, in reverse order, here’s our top 10 games of 2014 as voted for by the GamesQuest blog team!

The Perfect End!!! To a Perfect Year!!!

So there you have it, our top 10 games of the year, headed up by our blogger-selected Game of the Year 2014!

It’s been a fantastic year for us here on the GamesQuest blog. We’ve seen the release of some excellent titles, attended some brilliant events and met some amazing people! The Blogging team has increased in numbers from Nigel and Paul plus the odd guest blogger to include more permanent contributors in the form of Nikki, Luke, Peter (aka. Moley), Dan and myself.

We’ve covered games both new and old and have been provided with some fantastic review copies for which we are most grateful! As a team we’d like to thank everyone and wish you all a very happy 2015!

What Does the Future Have in Store??? More Fun and Games!!!

We won’t be stopping at what we’ve already got, or what we already do! Oh no! We have a whole raft of ideas that we’re going to be bringing to you throughout 2015 and we hope that this new year will see yet another large jump in our blogging and content offerings!

In fact, over the next week or so we will be opening another new competition! This time around we’re asking you to vote for your own game and expansion of 2014 which we will then use to make a list of the top ten games and expansions of 2014 as voted for by the GamesQuest fans! There will, of course be another fantastic prize on offer too so stay tuned – we’ll be launching it over on our Facebook page soon!
