We’re back with another exciting GamesQuest news flash!
For those of you who are familiar with Biblios or Scripts and Scribes: The Dice Game – both titles designed and developed by Steve Finn of Dr Finn’s Games – you’re in for a treat!
Steve has recently started a Kickstarter campaign for the Biblios Dice game! A title that he describes as:
A dice adaptation of the popular game Biblios. Just like the original Biblios, players assume the role of medieval abbots seeking to establish the most prestigious scriptorium by reproducing and illustrating valuable manuscripts.
A Dice Game Reborn??? Into A Whole New Biblios World!!!
It was only recently that I was playing Biblios and I have to say it’s great fun! It plays quickly and it has an interesting drafting/auction mechanic mix. With many games, such as Race for the Galaxy and Nations releasing interesting and successful dice versions – I’m definitely looking forward to seeing what Biblios Dice will bring to the table!
I’ve got to admit, I’ve never played Scripts and Scribes: The Dice Game but Steve explains that Biblios Dice is his newly designed version!
Biblios Dice is a heavily revised version of Scripts and Scribes: The Dice Game. Before Biblios was picked up by Iello, it was called Scripts and Scribes. Later, after Iello picked up Biblios, I self-published a dice version of the game. I didn’t have permission to use Biblios in the title, so I used the original Scripts and Scribes for the name.
For a couple years now, I’ve felt like the game needed some tweaks and an upgrade to the art. As it turns out, I ended up making more significant rule changes than I anticipated. Iello then gave me permission to use “Biblios” in the title, so I decided to give the Scripts and Scribes Dice Game a serious upgrade in the form of my new Kickstarter campaign – Biblios Dice!
Biblios Dice on Kickstarter… Tell Me More!!!
Weighing in at 40 minutes of gameplay, this dice-based 2-5 player game has vibrant new artwork that uses a wide variety of brilliant colours. The dice will be etched – adding to the quality of the release – and the gameplay isn’t like your typical dice game! It’s a lighter version of Biblios but it plays a little longer and has more going on!
Just take a look at all those components!
As with any dice game, luck plays a role in Biblios Dice, but Steve has tried to mitigate it to a certain extent. He also says that perhaps the most interesting feature is that Biblios Dice involves a dice drafting mechanic not seen in many games!
There’s a long thread, posted on the Kickstarter campaign page that focuses on the new differences -so if you want to know more – check out what’s going on over there before the campaign ends on December 24th 2014!
