Well, the UK Games Expo 2015 has been and gone and GamesQuest have had an exciting few days!
The GamesQuest UK Games Expo 2015 Adventure Begins…
Unfortunately, just before the team arrived in Birmingham for the Expo, disaster struck!
Nigel – Mr GamesQuest himself – was taken down with a mystery bug and was unable to join the rest of his crew on the good ship GamesQuest!
Saddened, and missing their leader, the team pulled together, set up the stand and did a fantastic job supplying the thousands of gamers that roamed the halls looking for the latest and greatest games.
In addition to the team behind the stand – the newly conceived GamesQuesters were out in force – with Moley and Adrian filming and interviewing from Friday through Saturday and Nikki joining them for the Sunday sessions.
Wandering the Expo Halls and Playing Some Games
As for me, I was amongst the hordes, scouring the show, looking at all the amazing stands, playing some great games and meeting many wonderful people. Over the course of the weekend Nikki and I had the absolute pleasure of chatting with some brilliant game designers and stars of the board game industry including, to name a few:
Over the next few weeks I’ll be writing some more posts about my time at the expo including a Forbidden Stars preview, a Magnates review plus “how to play” video, and a number of videos of other great games including – Thunderbirds, the Aliens Vs Predator Miniatures game and Camel Up: Super Cup!
On a personal note, the most amazing thing I got at the expo came from Ignacy Trzewiczek who, whilst walking me through his new games Rattle Battles Grab the Loot and Tides of Time, was kind enough to sign my copy of his book “Board Games That Tell Stories”. Not only that, he even drew me a little picture of a cow saying “Hi”.
On With the Show and Straight to the Awards!
Every great show has an award ceremony, and the UK Games Expo 2015 had a really great award ceremony this year! Further down the page, I’ve listed the different categories from the show so you can check exactly who won what! However, I before we delve into that I wanted to contrast the sad news that Nigel didn’t make it to the Expo, with the FANTASTIC news that Cycling Party won an award!
Yes folks, Cycling Party, the game that GamesQuest are the exclusive UK distributors for, won an award at the UK Games Expo 2015!
Specifically, Cycling Party won the Best General Game Award!
So, congratulations to Snake Eye Games for producing an award winning title and congratulations to Nigel for falling in love with it and bringing it to the UK!
Finally, and without further ado, here are all of the award winners from the UK Games Expo 2015:
